Jeff Hostetter
Bismarck
Dr. Hostetter is in his 25th year of providing compassionate, community-centered care at the UND Center for Family Medicine, where he has been a valued member of the team since 2000. Originally from Bozeman, Montana, he chose Family Medicine to be the most useful doctor to the community he serves. Family Medicine physicians care for patients across all stages of life and can address over 80% of a person’s healthcare needs. As he puts it, “We are the Swiss Army knives of medicine”—versatile, comprehensive, and focused on the whole person.
One of Dr. Hostetter’s favorite aspects of patient care is building long-term relationships and helping patients navigate difficult medical challenges. He also finds great fulfillment in teaching future physicians and conducting community-based research that evaluates how national recommendations apply to real patients in rural settings.
Outside of work, Dr. Hostetter enjoys fishing, gardening, playing music, and the occasional round of golf.
Fun fact: He has an 8-foot-tall Benjamin fig tree in his office that he bought in 1978 when he was just 16 years old!
